The WAVE feature is simple in form yet impressive in function - a small protrusion above the blade tang which when the knife is pulled from the pocket catches on the pocket edge and rotates the blade into the open position - locked and ready for safe use. It sounds complex but it all happens very simply indeed in just a fraction of a second, or as quickly as you can draw the knife from your pocket.

This means that the blade is deployed very quickly and very safely too, as your hands are always well away from the opening motion of the blade.
